Although my visit to the BKS students was via zoom during COVID, I could tell all the kids were engaged and wanting to learn more about what I did as a ceramicist. It's important to me as a Korean American to make myself visible to my community and show creative businesses like mine are possible so they have a point of reference for the future.
Visiting BKS has been such an inspiring and joyful experience—the kids' excitement and enthusiasm make every moment memorable. Each time I'm there, I leave with so much inspiration, energy, and new ideas! I feel so welcomed and loved by the entire community, and I look forward to returning with each new book!
Brooklyn Korean School is a community where you feel just like yourself! Kids are not just learning Hangeul or Korean culture, they are also learning who they are. I wish kids would become proud of themselves and feel a sense of belonging here.
Visiting BKS was such a heartwarming and inspiring experience. I was deeply touched by the students’ openness, creativity, and genuine curiosity about Korean music, culture, and identity. Our exchange reminded me how beautiful it is to share our roots through music, stories, and conversation.
